Drive-thru vaccination stations

Moreno recommends that toll booths have drive-thru vaccination stations.

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno asked the government and private sector to deploy expressway toll booths as drive-thru immunization stations yesterday.

The mayor made the announcement at the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila during the opening of a drive-thru booster vaccination for public utility vehicle drivers.

"I'd like to share an idea with you." All toll gates provide a drive-thru option. "Imagine the number of exits," Moreno said.

He said he got the idea after seeing statistics showing that people from all across the country travel to Manila to obtain their vaccinations.

"The data isn't going to lie to you." There are even individuals who travel three to four hours to Manila, adding the time spent waiting in line for vaccinations at the Luneta drive-thru booster facility," Moreno said, referring to the city's drive-thru vaccination site at Quirino Grandstand.

"This indicates that there is a demand from those who wish to be stimulated," he continued.

Moreno asked the Toll Regulatory Board to recommend the drive-thru jab site proposal to the business tycoons in charge of the North Luzon Expressway, South Luzon Expressway, Manila-Cavite Expressway, Southern Tagalog Arterial Road, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway, among others.

As of yesterday lunchtime, Manila had 3,413 current COVID-19 cases, including 120 new cases.
